Wake me Up

Chord Chart

Wake me up
Wake me up from the world to your Word
Wake me up
From an appetite for the absurd
Wake me up
From my impotent idols of rust
Wake me up
From these dreams that drop into dust

(chorus)
Shake me and wake me and open my eyes
I’m born again in the image of Christ
Lord let the beauty of Jesus shine through
And wake me up…
To You

  1. Marc,

I was hoping to use “Wake Me Up” at the spiritual disciplines retreat next weekend with the young adults, so I did a search on the song and your name, and found this great site! Thanks so much for putting these out here and making them so accessible.

"I find Marc Heinrich’s music moving and his lyrics faithful to Scripture, sobered with the real world of suffering, and creative in expression. I am happy to say: Listen and learn and be drawn further up and further in to God’s presence."

"I love Further Up and Further In Music because I love Marc Heinrich. Marc is a man with a powerful gift for songwriting who loves Jesus and the local church. His lyrics are always thoughtful and theologically robust, driving us to the supremacy of Christ and the glory of the gospel."

"Is that dirge they're playing one of yours Heinrich? It's not too bad." (on hearing the worship team run Only Jesus)

"Marc is a very funny guy and a good friend. But neither of those reasons tell you why I appreciate his songs. Marc uses language and music in a creative way to express genuine struggles and joys in light of a sovereign, gracious Redeemer."
